Casio Develops Fuel Cells For Digital Cameras

This is interesting.  I had no idea that this kind of development was going on.  Casio has developed a Methanol Fuel Cell to power electronics, including cameras, computers, etc.  The fuel cell has already fueled a digital camera.

Additional information can be obtained from the Casio Worldwide website.

Order prints from your Nokia Phone:  Our world continues to evolve.  There is now a service that will print images taken with some Nokia cell phone and mail them to you.  More info here.

Here is an interesting article about MicroStock image libraries.  Also some interesting links.  Check it out if you are interested in MicroStock.

Bringing images into the future from the past is important.  The task can be complicated or relatively easy depending on what you know and what the scanning task is.  Wayne Fulton has an excellent resource here.

Have you been wondering how to take PortraitsJoe Zeltsman has published excellent articles here.  Topic include (but are not limited to): Posing Men, Posing Women, Posing Babies and Young Children, Posing Couples, Bounce and Fill Lighting.

What Makes a Photograph Good is the title of blog article by George Barr.  This is an excellent article that touches many of the important components of producing a good image.  Additionally, there are many other fascinating links in the left column of his website.

Self Adhering Tape, Selections, 2,000 still on YouTube

E-mail Print PDF

Self Adhering Tape:  A post that I ran across recently suggested that the tape that is used to hold the cotton ball on your arm after you give blood might be a good tape to carry in your camera bag.  I agree and will order some here.  Suggested uses are to hold camera straps out of the way when on a tripod...to hold flowers still while shooting close...to mark flash units right and left.  I'm sure that my first use won't be any of these but I know the tape will be useful.

Selections: After you learn how to optimize an image you will want to know how to affect just portions of an image.  To optimize/modify just a portion of an image you will need to select it.  I do teach how to make selections in class, however to learn more about making selections I recommend that you read this article.

Now here is an interesting post.  Chase Jarvis, a commercial photographer, posts a series of 2000 still images on YouTube.  Take a few minutes and watch this if you want to see how a professional sees/works.

Extending Dynamic Range can radically improve some images.  Both film and digital cameras are able to capture about 5 stops of dynamic range...much less than the human eye.  This post discusses blending two images into one to extend the dynamic range so that the human eye finds the image more realistic and appealing.

Here is an article about Exposure Strategies for Digital Cameras.  Lot's of info here.  I recommend that you glance at it and that you bookmark it if you want to digest it further.  This link is a long term resource for the digital photographer.

Too Bad...they've pulled this off the Internet...but it was fun while it lasted.
STOP THE PRESSES:  This is a fun game that you can safely play in just a few minutes.  Break up the tedium of image optimizing by trying to photograph Superman as he fly's across your screen.
