The Bachelor and the Clean CF Card

E-mail Print PDF

I had been single for about 19 years when this managed to happen.  I love to build trails.  I had been out one day ripping thru the forest with my hand tools,  When I needed a break I would spend a few minutes photographing.  Then back to trail building.  A lot of stress can be burned off this way.

When returning to the house it was not unusual for me to get undressed right in front of the clothes washer.  Easy for me to avoid getting dirt into the house that way

Later that afternoon I heard the dryer buzzer go off.  Being a neat bachelor who knew that if you took your clothes out right away and hung them up...they would look a bit better than if you left them in the dryer...I went out to the dryer.

I opened the dryer door and out fell my spare CF card...all 128 megs of it.  Oh Sh*t slipped out of my mouth.  I picked the card up...it was still very hot...and in my mind I wrote it off.  It had been through a strong wash and a hot dry.  Not even a cat could survive that.

Later than evening I slipped the card into my card reader just for kicks...and wouldn't you know it...there were images on it.  I used that card for about a year longer with no trouble at all.  Then it seemed to be too small so I gave it away.  Perhaps it's still functioning today.

  • Firmware updates for Canon's big guns
Canon has released firmware updates for its range-topping EOS 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III cameras.
